The 13th annual Student Art Show at Sachem High School East was a success! Art teachers and students worked tirelessly to curate, frame, hang and display over two hundred works of art for the event that took place in the Joseph B. Taylor Memorial Gallery on April 4.

The evening commenced with The National Art Honor Society’s induction ceremony led by the officers – President Megan Lavan, Vice President Leah Ratto, Secretary Samantha Robins, Treasurer Nathan Ermmarino, and publicity directors Grace Prego and Trisha Parikh.

The National Art Honor Society requires students to have a minimum 90% average in all art classes and a minimum weighted GPA of 82%. Students must have completed at least two classes in the art department or be currently enrolled in their second art class.

Congratulations to this year’s inductees: Layla Augier, Gianna Bijlhout, Jacob DeFillippo, Anna Clara DeJesus, Kaylee Dreyer, Gianna Erbis, Stepfanie Fuentes, Lena Gannotta, Syeda Hashin, Juliana Kelly, Mia LoPiccolo, Karen Merlos, Connor Mullady, Evelyn Murphy, Sarah Murphy, Kelsey Nucatola, Isabella Rodriguez, Holly Schneider, Jennifer Sejarto, and Samantha Smith.

The evening concluded with the art exhibition from 7-8 p.m. The energy in the room was joyful as students, parents, friends and colleagues admired the artwork.

A special thanks to Dr. Comito and Mrs. Dominic from the music department for arranging the selection of vocalists and musicians who performed throughout the evening: Jaden Rudnicki (French Horn), Mason Vaughn (Piano), Sam McCullagh (Violin), Finn Sobanski (Flute), Kailyn Lamb (vocalist), Emma Rudge (vocalist) and Isabella Licata (vocalist).

The art department would also like to thank the custodial staff who were an integral part of setting up before the induction, then seamlessly clearing the room so viewers could see the work up close. The collaborative efforts of all those involved resulted in a great achievement that deserves to be celebrated!
