Third graders at Chippewa Elementary School collaborated with Sachem High School East students for a St. Patrick’s Day STEM project. On March 15, high school students pushed into the third grade classes to read “How to Catch a Leprechaun” by Adam Wallace. Students then worked together to construct their own leprechaun traps using simple materials including cardboard boxes, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners and glitter.

The third graders got creative in designing the traps that would lure a leprechaun. Elementary and high school students alike had the opportunity to interact with each other while engaging in the festive, problem-solving activity.
