In honor of Autism Awareness Month, students in Tara Scully’s third grade class at Chippewa Elementary School participated in a comprehensive activity exploring disabilities and conditions.

As part of the lesson, the class read the picture book “We Are All Wonders” by R.J. Palacio, which inspired the students to learn more about the different types of people there are in the world. Each student chose to research a disability or condition that someone may have and utilized the computer program PebbleGo to gather research for their project.

Concluding the activity, students shared what they learned with their classmates during enlightening individual presentations which discussed a wide variety of conditions and disabilities.
