Sachem High School North Library

Certified School Librarians: Ms. Haussner and Ms. Berthold

Our mission, as New York State Certified School Librarians, is to ensure students learn skills to inquire and wonder, think critically, develop inferences, draw conclusions, as well as create and share new knowledge.

At North Library, school librarians foster lifelong learning in students. We teach information and literacy skills, brainstorm reading and research learning adventures and integrate current technology to enhance learning.
With a focus on inquiry-based learning, school librarians collaborate with teachers to engage students in their own learning. An inquiry-based curriculum is essential for deep learning and higher level thought. We maintain a current collection of resource materials in print and digital formats and guide learners through the Virtual Reference Collection (VRC). The VRC contains different databases, which are credible, reliable and valid resources for inquiry across all subject areas. At North Library, students engage with information, collaborate with others, solve real problems and build new knowledge.
Sachem North Library is open from 7:10-2:27 pm.
