Samoset Middle School Appoints New Assistant Principal  thumbnail133074
At the conclusion of a lengthy search and screening process, the Sachem Central School District is proud to announce the appointment of Timothy Rodgers as a new assistant principal at Samoset Middle School, filling the vacancy left by Thomas Desmond after he was appointed principal of Wenonah Elementary School. 

Mr. Rodgers joins Samoset from P.S./I.S. 178, where he served as the K-8 dean of students since 2017. He was responsible for the social-emotional development and the restorative discipline process of students and was instrumental in the development of a check-in and check-out progress monitoring system for middle school classes. While serving as the dean of students, he also collaborated with teachers and administrators on a weekly basis, participating on many school teams, such as the child study team, school leadership team, building response team, school safety team and the school intervention team, and in the math department to promote STEM initiatives. 

Prior to his time as the dean of students, Mr. Rodgers was a health and physical education teacher at P.S./I.S. 178 for four years and a health and physical education teacher at P.S. 334 for four years prior to that. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education with a certification in teaching and a master’s degree in health education with a certificate in teaching from the State University of New York at Cortland and an initial certificate in school building leadership from The College of Saint Rose.
