The importance of reducing, reusing and recycling was instrumental during a workshop at Wenonah Elementary School during the school year that taught students across grade levels the importance of environmental conservation through repurposing household trash.

As part of the educational program led by the Bash the Trash organization, students learned different ways to reuse and repurpose trash to create unique musical instruments. Additionally, students learned about the science of sound and the different classifications of instruments, including brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion. Using trash and recyclable materials from home, students collaboratively worked to create personalized instruments mimicking popular instruments found in a band.

Concluding the program, students gathered together for a group performance where they showcased their instruments and the variety of sounds they make.
