Elements of traditional Chinese culture covered the halls of Chippewa Elementary School in celebration of Chinese New Year on Feb. 5 as students participated in a collection of activities highlighting the country.

Before the celebration, third-grade students throughout the building crafted Chinese lanterns, masks and painted messages in Mandarin to be displayed throughout the building. In addition, students became experts on Chinese culture, learning intriguing facts about the country and its citizens’ way of life.

Concluding the celebration, students enjoyed a Chinese food lunch where they spoke about the Americanized items served and those served as a part of a traditional Chinese meal.
