Students at Hiawatha Elementary School recently participated in the annual celebration of the mathematical constant Pi with a collection of math activities as part of Pi Day.

During the celebration, fifth grade students learned that Pi is used to determine the circumference of a circle and how it is included within the equation. Additionally, students graphed the number and held a competition showcasing who could remember the most numbers in the Pi sequence.

Culminating the day, students enjoyed a lunch consisting of personal pizza pies donated by Suffolk County Legislator Nick Caracappa.
