Two Sachem Central School District teachers were selected as Teachers of the Year by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Suffolk Zone Professional Awards Committee. Kristen Fieger from Samoset Middle School was the recipient of the Suffolk Zone Award for Middle School Health Education Teacher of the Year and Clodagh Harte from Tamarac Elementary School was honored with the Suffolk Zone Award for Elementary School Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Fieger and Ms. Harte were both honored at the Suffolk Zone Conference at Sachem High School East in November 2023 and recently received their awards from Sachem Athletic Director Gary Beutel and Assistant Athletic Director Phil Torregrosa at the Suffolk Zone Professional Awards Dinner on Jan. 18 at the West Sayville Country Club. The district congratulates these great teachers on this honor, which was selected by their peers in health and physical education.
