Sachem High School East student Scarlett Stroup was recently awarded first place by the Long Island Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) for her outstanding writing and poster entry in this year’s competition.
The theme, “Celebrating Our Roots and Cultures in the Heart of the Universe,” invited students to explore and express cultural pride and heritage. Scarlett’s creative and thoughtful submission stood out among entries from across the region.
In a photo marking the achievement, Principal Lou Antonetti is pictured with Scarlett and Spanish teacher and Foreign Language Honor Society adviser Jennifer Travaglia. Scarlett’s entry has also been submitted to the national AATSP competition for further recognition.
