Sachem middle school students participated in the third annual Dezy Strong Run on Nov. 1 at High School North. Students from Sagamore, Samoset and Seneca Middle Schools took part in the race to honor the late Matt “Dezy” DiStefano.
More than 50 runners competed in a 1.5 mile run through the grounds of High School North and Samoset. Fans, family members and runners braved high winds, rain and even a few minutes of hail throughout the afternoon to support the cause. Matt’s motto, “We Get To,” was at the top of the minds of the runners throughout the course.
Breana Anderson of Samoset won the girls race in a time of 11 minutes and 44 seconds, and Brian Mormon of Samoset won the boys race in a time of 10 minutes and 39 seconds.
Congratulations to all who participated in this special event and a huge thank you for all those who made it possible!
