Fifth graders at Wenonah Elementary School are playing songs of the season while learning about coding. Students used Makey Makeys, which are circuit boards that replicate keyboards, to play holiday tunes. The boards turn everyday objects into touchpads and use the internet to create music.
Fifth graders created festive circuit boards lined with conductive taping to invent their own sensors. When they press down on the sensors, the board plays a music note and LED lights illuminate. The interdisciplinary activity combines art, music, engineering and science while getting students excited about the holiday season.
