The Sachem Central School District Board of Education recognized the success of one of the district’s programs, as well as a student achievement at its Oct. 26 meeting.
Sachem High School East senior Adriana Ancilleri was honored for being named the 2022 New York State Champion at a weightlifting competition held in Binghamton. Ancilleri competes in the 45-kilogram weight class category in two events — the snatch, and clean and jerk. She holds nine state records and is a two-time Weightlifting State Organization record holder. Ancilleri noted that she was inspired to pursue weightlifting by her history teacher, Ryan Fatscher.
Additionally, high school counselors Nicole Koerber at East and Christine Launer at North provided the board with an update on the district’s therapy dog program. They brought dogs Oakley and Bailey and explained that the program has had an overwhelmingly positive response from students.
