New Head of Counseling Named

The Sachem Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Miller as the new administrator for guidance and college & career counseling.

Dr. Miller has worked in the Sachem Central School District for 18 years. Most recently, he served as the assistant principal at Seneca Middle School. In this administrative role, he supervised a number of departments, communicated with students, faculty and parents, held formal and informal observations and oversaw the building’s master schedule. Dr. Miller also serves as the director for SCOPE Educational Services Saturday Enrichment Program, coordinating middle and high school enrichment for more than 100 students.

Prior to working as the assistant principal at Seneca Middle School, Dr. Miller was the assistant principal at Sachem High School North for eight years. Additionally, he was a social studies teacher in the district, starting in 2004. As a teacher, Dr. Miller was named Sachem North Teacher of the Year and the Sachem Central Teachers’ Association Educator of Tomorrow Award winner multiple times.

“As a Sachem alum, I am very excited to be working with students and their families across the district,” Dr. Miller said. “Sachem is home and I sincerely look forward to assisting all students in reaching their full potential and pursuing their passion.”

Dr. Miller received his doctorate in effective middle to high school transition practices from St. John’s University. He earned his master’s degree and advanced graduate certificate from Stony Brook University, and his bachelor’s from St. Joseph’s College. Dr. Miller’s appointment to his new position was effective Aug. 11.
