Throughout April, Wenonah Elementary School students and staff celebrated Autism Acceptance Month, with activities led by Wenonah’s speech-language pathologist, Isabella Busch. This month highlighted neurodiversity and inclusion and was a celebration of our differences, with the theme “Dare to Be Different.”
Students and teachers participated in read-alouds, spirit week, a door decorating competition and a T-shirt design fundraiser. The winning design was created by fifth grader Jack Woods in Mr. Kolensky’s class. Funds from T-shirt sales were donated to a local organization, Spectrum of Dreams, that supports individuals with autism, and over $2,000 was raised for the organization.
