‘Kids in Seats’ Program Reaches Sachem Students

Sachem High School East students have the opportunity to attend sporting events, Broadway shows and concerts for displaying positive social behaviors and for their academic achievements. High School East has partnered with Kids in Seats, a nonprofit organization that uses event experiences as motivational tools in schools.

Tickets for these events are expensive and it is the organization’s mission to provide deserving students who may not have the monetary means to attend these events with their family. Last year, Sachem High School East students and their families attended several events including Yankees, Mets, Islanders and Nets games, the Pinstripe Bowl, “Wicked” and “Aladdin” on Broadway, and Disney on Ice.

The feedback from Sachem students, teachers and families has been extremely positive. Teachers are happy to acknowledge their students and provide them with opportunities that do not strain their households financially, while students are excited to be recognized for their efforts in the classroom and their positive behavior in the school community.
