This summer, the Sachem Central School District Board of Education was proud to appoint three new principals at Chippewa, Lynwood and Merrimac elementary schools.

Catherine Dulovic joins Lynwood Elementary School as the new principal after most recently serving as a third grade teacher at Lynwood. A veteran educator who has taught in the Sachem Central School District since 2004, Mrs. Dulovic has been an integral part of the Sachem school community serving on curriculum writing teams across subject areas, fostering the development of digital citizenship through responsible technology use in the classroom and designing meaningful lessons utilizing reading, writing and math workshop methods.

Elizabeth Tucci joins Merrimac Elementary School as principal after most recently serving as the assistant director for special education in the Sachem Central School District for five years. During her time in her previous position, Mrs. Tucci had direct oversight of the speech, hearing and vision departments, chaired the committee on preschool special education and the committee on special education and participated in professional discussions related to curriculum enhancement, effective teacher evaluation and technology for staff and students.

Michael Saidens Joins Chippewa Elementary School as the new principal of Chippewa Elementary School after most recently serving as the executive director for pupil and personnel services in the Locust Valley School District. Prior to his time in the Locust Valley School District, Mr. Saidens served as the executive director of student services in the Sachem Central School District and was principal of Tamarac Elementary School for nine years.

We welcome these three new principals to the Sachem school community and wish them well as they begin the new school year.
