For the first time in nearly two decades, the Sachem East girls soccer program is celebrating a Long Island championship.

The Arrows captured the Long Island Class AAA title Sunday evening at Farmingdale State College, defeating Nassau County champion Oceanside in a dramatic 4-3 penalty-kick shootout after a scoreless battle through regulation and overtime.

Sophomore Audrey McCarville delivered the championship-clinching penalty kick, while goalkeeper Paige Seaman turned in an outstanding performance to help Sachem East secure its first Long Island crown since 2007.

With the shootout tied at three, McCarville stepped up to the penalty spot with a chance to make history. She calmly drove a right-footed shot into the lower-left corner of the net, immediately sprinting toward Seaman as her teammates erupted in celebration.

The moment capped a remarkable evening for a Sachem East team that has continued to exceed expectations throughout its postseason run.

McCarville credited her preparation and confidence for helping her deliver under pressure, describing the opportunity to win a championship for her teammates, particularly lone senior Aubree Ellis, as an unforgettable experience.

While McCarville provided the decisive moment, Seaman was instrumental in making the championship possible.

The Sachem East goalkeeper recorded nine saves through regulation and overtime, repeatedly turning away Oceanside scoring opportunities to preserve the scoreless tie. She then delivered two critical stops during the penalty-kick shootout, diving to her left on both attempts to deny the Sailors.

Her performance gave the Arrows the advantage they needed to complete their championship run.
Braelin Fernandes, Gabriella Arculeo and Ella Scotti also successfully converted their penalty kicks for Sachem East before McCarville delivered the winner.

Head coach Glen Monsen praised Seaman's ability to rise to the occasion, emphasizing that her timely saves have been a defining part of the team's success throughout the season.

The championship adds another historic accomplishment to an already memorable fall for Sachem East.
The Arrows entered the postseason as Suffolk County's top seed and captured the Class AAA county championship with a 1-0 victory over Connetquot, earning the program's first outright Suffolk title since 2007.

Perhaps even more remarkable is the youth of the Sachem East roster. With Ellis serving as the team's only senior, the Arrows have built a championship foundation around a talented group of underclassmen who have demonstrated poise, resilience and confidence on the biggest stages.
