The Sachem Central School District is proud to announce that both Sachem High School East and Sachem High School North have been recognized as 2025-2026 NYSPHSAA Schools of Excellence for the outstanding academic achievements of the district's student-athletes.

Presented annually by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA), the School of Excellence designation recognizes member schools that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to academic achievement while maintaining successful interscholastic athletic programs. To earn the distinction, at least 75 percent of a school's varsity teams must achieve NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team status during the academic year.

The recognition reflects the collective efforts of student-athletes, coaches, teachers, administrators and families who have embraced the belief that excellence in the classroom is just as important as excellence in competition.

"The commitment demonstrated by our member schools to academic excellence continues to be one of the greatest strengths of educational-based athletics," said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. "These awards recognize entire school communities that value success in the classroom as much as success in competition."

The NYSPHSAA School of Distinction and School of Excellence awards are designed to encourage athletic departments across New York State to challenge every varsity team to achieve statewide academic recognition through the organization's Scholar-Athlete program. Schools earning the School of Excellence designation have demonstrated that academic success is embedded throughout their athletic programs.

The honor caps another memorable year for Sachem athletics, reinforcing the district's commitment to developing well-rounded students who excel both on the field and in the classroom. From championship performances to academic accomplishments, Sachem student-athletes continue to represent the district with pride, integrity and excellence.
