Mauro, Sasso Garner Suffolk County Coach of the Year Honors

Following championship seasons that brought long-awaited titles back to Sachem, boys lacrosse coach Anthony Muratore and softball coach Ken Sasso have each been recognized as Suffolk County Coach of the Year in their respective sports. Their honors capped an unforgettable spring in which both programs reached the pinnacle of Suffolk County athletics.
Muratore guided the boys lacrosse team to its first Suffolk County championship since 1995, ending a 30-year drought and restoring one of Long Island's proudest programs to county supremacy. Throughout the season, the Arrows displayed relentless determination, outstanding teamwork and a championship mentality that culminated in a historic title run.
Sasso led the Sachem North softball team to its first Suffolk County championship in 33 years, another milestone achievement that energized the school community and cemented the 2026 season as one of the greatest in program history. His team's resilience, consistency and belief in one another helped bring championship softball back to Sachem North.
For two coaches to earn Suffolk County Coach of the Year honors in the same spring while leading their teams to historic county championships is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the culture of excellence that continues to thrive in Sachem athletics.
Congratulations to Coach Muratore and Coach Sasso on these well-deserved recognitions. Thank you for your leadership, dedication and for creating unforgettable memories for your student-athletes and the entire Sachem community.
