PSEGWenonah Elementary School students were recognized on Tuesday evening as winners of the PSEG “I Am EM-Powered” public service announcement video contest during a ceremony at the Huntington Hilton.

Two groups of fifth-grade students earned top honors in a highly competitive field that featured more than 150 submissions, with only 10 videos selected as winners. The recognition took place in front of hundreds of students, teachers, and PSEG executives.

One winning group included Marcelo Maria, Hunter Vaccaro, Matthew Vitale, and Parker Woods. The second group featured Riley Busacca and Gabrielle Montenarello.

Their videos stood out for their ability to educate, entertain, and inspire, while emphasizing the importance of energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental protection.

“Seeing our students recognized on this stage is incredibly meaningful for our entire school community,” said Wenonah Elementary Principal Matthew Perlongo. “They took an important topic and transformed it into creative, impactful storytelling that not only informs but inspires action. We are so proud of the way they represented Wenonah.”

As part of the project, students explored key concepts related to energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy. They worked collaboratively to select topics and craft public service announcements designed to motivate others to take action.

The experience encouraged students to become “EM-Powered,” equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to share their message with the broader community and promote environmental responsibility.
