Sachem wrestling delivered a dominant showing on February 7 as Sachem North captured the team championship and Sachem East finished third at the Suffolk League II Tournament, hosted by Ward Melville High School.

Sachem North powered to the title with 263.5 points, outpacing host Ward Melville (223.5). Sachem East rounded out the podium with 211 points, underscoring the program’s depth across many weight classes. Lindenhurst (175.5), Bay Shore (109), and Walt Whitman (75) completed the field.

The meet’s finals told the story of Sachem’s control: only three championship bouts did not feature a wrestler from either Sachem North or Sachem East.

Sachem North sealed the championship behind a string of decisive victories. Joshua Thomas earned a major decision at 144 pounds, while Thomas Vecchio (175), Logan Spinella (190), and Niko Valenza (215) all recorded pins or decisive wins to swing team momentum. Heavyweight Valdey Pierre closed the night with a composed 5–0 decision, capping a dominant team performance.

Sachem East made its mark with clutch finals wins as well. Dylan Devine edged Ward Melville’s Aiden Zorn in a thrilling 13–12 bout at 132 pounds, while Ryan Pickersgill (157) and Jon Schroff (165) delivered emphatic results, a pin and a technical fall, respectively.
