Davidson TournamentSachem North made the most of its home mat advantage, capturing the team championship at the Joe Davidson Memorial Tournament.

The Arrows finished first with 426.5 points, pulling away from a competitive field that featured many of Suffolk County’s top wrestling programs. Sayville placed second with 323.5 points, followed by Sachem East (281), Brentwood (236.5), and Kellenberg (235).

Rounding out the field were Oceanside, William Floyd, MacArthur, Bayport-Blue Point, Eastport South Manor, Center Moriches, and Deer Park.

The tournament, held annually in honor of Sachem alum and former coach Joe Davidson, once again delivered a full slate of high-level championship bouts and dramatic finishes.

Sachem North was fueled by several strong performances in the finals, highlighted by Jack Cusumano (138), who pinned Sayville’s Brett Lennihan in 3:16, and Jake Fischer (150), who earned a decisive 12–7 victory over Brentwood’s Nathanael Bouquet. Thomas Vecchio (175) added bonus points with a technical fall over Kellenberg’s Brendan Barkley, and Valdey Pierre (285) closed out the night with an 8–2 decision against Oceanside’s Joshua Moshkovich.

Sachem East also came out strong on the championship stage, led by Sano Restrepo (103), who secured a quick pin in 1:42, and Jon Schroff (165), who edged Kellenberg’s Colin Regan in a tight 1–0 decision.

With depth across the lineup and key bonus-point wins in the finals, Sachem North separated itself over the two-day event to secure the team title in front of a home crowd. This has been a trend early in the season for both Sachem North and Sachem East, so we're locked in as both programs bear down for what should be an exciting January and February.
