Posted Date: 12/15/25 (08:58 AM)

Students recently took part in an interdisciplinary field trip to Suffolk County Community College’s Baker’s Workshop, where baking, business, and college exploration combined to create a meaningful, real-world learning experience.

The visit began with an informative presentation outlining SCCC’s academic offerings and the broader opportunities available through New York State’s public university system. Students learned about admissions pathways, degree programs, and the variety of careers connected to culinary arts, hospitality, and business-related fields.

Following the presentation, students were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the college’s state-of-the-art culinary facilities. The tour provided a firsthand look at professional kitchens, classrooms, and industry-level equipment, offering insight into how culinary and hospitality programs operate at the collegiate level.
To conclude the trip, students visited The Baker’s Workshop café, where they sampled freshly prepared pastries and café specialties. The experience also allowed students time to relax, socialize, and gain a sense of campus life in a welcoming college environment.

Overall, the field trip offered an engaging blend of career exploration, culinary exposure, and practical business connections, helping students envision future educational pathways while connecting classroom learning to real-world applications.
