Cayuga Elementary Partners with Gino’s Pizzeria to Spread Kindness for PS I Love You Day

In the spirit of compassion and community, students from Cayuga Elementary School teamed up with Gino's Pizzeria to celebrate PS I Love You Day on Friday, February 13.
Cayuga’s fifth-grade leaders took their message beyond the classroom walls, visiting the local pizzeria to decorate pizza boxes with heartfelt and empowering notes. Messages of encouragement, positivity, and support serve as a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
In addition to decorating the boxes, students stood in the doorway to greet customers with warm smiles and personally handed out cards promoting awareness and empathy. The simple yet powerful gesture turned an ordinary pizza pickup into a moment of connection and community.
PS I Love You Day was co-founded by Cayuga teacher Jaimie DiPalma, who created the initiative to raise awareness of mental health challenges and educate students about the importance of kindness, inclusion, and open dialogue. The annual observance encourages individuals to wear purple and share messages of hope, reminding everyone that no one is alone.
For the Cayuga fifth graders, the partnership with Gino’s was more than a service project — it was a living lesson in empathy, leadership, and civic engagement.
It was a special day for everyone involved, reinforcing the power of community partnerships and student voice. To see the students in action and learn more about the initiative, watch the full WSHR social news update on Facebook or Instagram.
