Waverly Walks for Breast Cancer Awareness

Waverly Walks for Breast Cancer Awareness thumbnail250490

Throughout the month of October, the Sachem Central School District is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Oct. 6, Waverly Elementary School students and staff dressed in pink and walked together as a symbol of solidarity for the cause. Parents and community members cheered students on as they held signs of support and walked the perimeter of the school’s field. The walk ended in the middle of the field where students and staff followed an outline to form a breast cancer awareness ribbon, which was captured from a drone above. Additionally, cosmetology students from Sachem High School North were on hand to put in pink hair extensions for staff and parents.

The event, which was organized by the Waverly PTA, brought together the school community while recognizing an important cause.
