Students at Cayuga Elementary had a special visitor this week — Olympian and proud Sachem alum Maria Michta-Coffey. A two-time U.S. Olympic race walker and Cayuga parent, Michta-Coffey stopped by to demonstrate her sport and share her passion for perseverance and healthy living.

Students had the opportunity to watch her race walk up close, learning about the dedication and discipline it takes to compete at the highest level. 

Her visit offered an exciting preview of what’s to come this weekend — she’ll also be participating in the Sachem Day 5K on Saturday, where the community can see her in action once again.

Cayuga staff and students were thrilled to welcome her back to Sachem, celebrating both her Olympic achievements and her continued involvement in the district as a parent and role model.
