Sachem East and Sachem North Field Hockey Team Up to Support League of YES
In a powerful show of unity and community spirit, the Sachem East and Sachem North field hockey programs joined forces this weekend for an outreach event benefiting the League of YES, creating a day filled with memories, kindness, giving, teamwork and fun.
Players from both squads operated side-by-side as buddies and station leaders, encouraging participants, celebrating small victories, and modeling the teamwork that defines both sport and service. The joint effort underscored how athletics can extend beyond the field to make a meaningful impact.
The League of YES offers inclusive baseball, softball, and basketball programs for individuals of all abilities, utilizing team sports to promote exercise, connection, and confidence. Its mission is to deliver the joy and benefits of playing on a team while fostering self-esteem and a healthy, active lifestyle. The organization believes everyone deserves the chance to play and be part of a supportive community. This message resonated throughout the event as Sachem student-athletes cheered on participants, offered one-on-one guidance, and assisted in running skill stations.
Coaches and staff from both Sachem programs praised their athletes for leading with heart, noting how the experience sharpened leadership skills and strengthened bonds across campuses. Parents and community members, many wearing Sachem colors of red, black, and gold, filled the sidelines to applaud the inclusive spirit on display.
By the end of the day, smiles and new friendships were everywhere. For Sachem East and Sachem North field hockey, the partnership served as a reminder that the accurate measure of a team isn’t just on a scoreboard, but in the way it lifts others.
