Sachem High School North hosted Curriculum Night on Nov. 7. Eighth and ninth grade students and their families were invited to the building to get information on all of the elective classes that Sachem has to offer. Students participated in a series of curriculum presentations where they learned about course offerings and graduation requirements.

Additionally, students were encouraged to visit the classes that they wanted to learn more about. Teachers from each department explained their classes and showcased student projects. Students who previously took these courses were also present to share their experiences with their younger peers.

After learning about electives, students chose three classes they are interested in and noted them in eSchool. Later this year, school counselors will meet with students to discuss the classes they picked and help create their schedule for the 2023-24 school year.

“This night was such a success due to high student interest in new courses Sachem is offering across all subject areas,” Principal Andrew Larson said. “It is incredible important to give eighth and ninth grade students and their parents the opportunity to explore different pathways to graduation through courses they show a passion for.”
