At its Oct. 12 meeting, the Sachem Board of Education recognized current third grader, Kayla Zatyk for her efforts in starting a recycling program as a Lynwood student last year. Kayla worked with Principal Catherine Dulovic to bring recycling bins to the school. She created a petition that her peers signed, then sent an email to Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine, who dropped off the bins himself. The Board thanks Kayla for her efforts in bettering the Sachem community.
