Dear Merrimac Family,

It is with excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself to you as the principal of Merrimac Elementary School. From my experience these past five years as an Assistant Director for Special Education in Sachem, I have been inspired by your remarkable team from the warm welcome I have always received as I entered the building, to the beautiful children who fill the halls, the families I have met through the Committee on Special Education and the staff who have proven over and over again that they are in this field for the betterment of our students. Now, my dreams are coming true as I get to work more closely with the students, the staff and the entire Merrimac family.

This is a joyous journey that I am proud to share with my own family as well. My husband, Preston, is an eighth grade math teacher who strives to provide students with a learning environment which motivates them to excel. We have three elementary aged children, Reagan (7), Carter (5) and Pierce (4), who have been blessed with amazing educators since the time they were babies in daycare and who are beyond thrilled that their mom will be visiting classrooms, playgrounds, the gymnasium, the lunchroom, the bus loop, the art and music rooms, the library, the nurse’s office and finding a second home in the office!

I must take time to thank Mrs. DeCicco, her staff and the community for already providing me with kindness, care and support during my transition. Mrs. DeCicco is an incredibly dedicated administrator who continues to want the best for the Merrimac family. I promise to do all that is in my power to maintain the tradition of excellence for this school community.

Many thanks to the entire Sachem family from the bottom of my heart for allowing me this opportunity. Together, we will continue to achieve greatness!

Enjoy the summer with your family and friends! Please feel free to call the building or email me with any questions.

Warmly,
