Cayuga Elementary School

Library Policies

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed a very relaxing-and literary- summer! I am looking forward to sharing the new school year with your children.

All of our students will be visiting the library weekly for 30 minutes.  During that time we will have our library lessons, and your child(ren) will borrow books. They are allowed to borrow one, two or three books, depending on their grade level.  There are no fines assessed for overdue books, but lost or damaged books must be paid for or replaced.

I will be doing my best to get (or keep) your children ‘hooked on reading’ by recommending specific reading materials to each individual, as time allows. At each grade level, students will be learning research and computer skills specifically suited to their developmental needs. Library lessons will stress good Digital Citizenship, helping your child make SAFE and ethical decisions when using the Internet. Your child will not be asked to work on any projects outside of the Library unless s/he has not remained on task during their Library period.  It is sure to be a busy and exciting year!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Schare
