Sachem Schools Honor Veterans with Districtwide Tributes and Reflection
Over the past several days, schools across the Sachem Central School District held special programs to honor the brave men and women who have served our country.
From patriotic parades and student-led assemblies to classroom Q&A sessions with veterans, the Sachem community came together to show gratitude and respect in countless meaningful ways.
Each building celebrated in its own unique style ... students lined hallways waving flags during veterans’ parades, wrote heartfelt letters and cards, and welcomed local servicemen and women to share their stories and experiences. Many schools also recognized family members of students and staff who have served, emphasizing the personal connections and deep sense of pride that unite the Sachem community.
To see the full range of these powerful moments, you can visit the Sachem Central School District’s social media pages, where videos and photos have been posted throughout the week.
In addition to the building-level events, Superintendent Patti Trombetta shared a heartfelt message reflecting on the importance of Veterans Day within the Sachem community, thanking all who have served, especially the many Sachem graduates who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedoms.
Adding to the districtwide observance, 91.9-FM WSHR hosted a special Veterans Day broadcast featuring Nokomis Elementary teacher and Navy veteran Joe Papagni, who shared his personal journey from Sachem student to serviceman and educator.
The Sachem community extends its sincere gratitude to all veterans—past, present, and future—for their courage, sacrifice, and service. Today and every day, we honor you. 🇺🇸
