Welcome to Seneca Middle School!
Seneca is a grade 6-8 building with approximately 825 students. All of our students are placed on a team with a dynamic group of educators who love children, love teaching, and are committed to the overall academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. Throughout the year, we continue to work collaboratively with parents in order to provide students with the best possible education in our ever changing world.
Seneca Middle School offers a challenging program of academic courses that supports every child’s achievement. All our courses are designed to meet the New York State Learning Standards and Performance Indicators which emphasize high expectations, authentic instruction, and performance assessments. All of courses are supported by a written curriculum that is reflective of the community’s and district's high expectations for student achievement. There are honors and accelerated courses in English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Math in grades 7, and 8 and Science honors in grade 8.
We offer an Academic Intervention Service curriculum in Math, English Language Arts and Reading. This service is intended to assist students who are at risk of not achieving the State learning standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics and are at risk of not gaining the knowledge and skills needed to meet or exceed designated performance levels on State assessments. This is a comprehensive assessment program, aligned with New York State mandates, which allows us to closely monitor the effectiveness of our curriculum and teaching practices as well as the individual student's progress in learning.
We also offer a range of technological tools, including fully equipped computer labs, computers on wheels, Smart Boards, and automated library systems. This will aid students in their studies, access and process information more efficiently, and improve the quality of their work products.
At Seneca Middle School, we are committed to developing a positive self-image, a strong desire for learning, and a sense of respect for self and others. We will accomplish this by providing a challenging curriculum in a safe and supportive atmosphere as our children mature into productive citizens. We have and will continue to maintain high expectations for every child.
