THE SCRAPBOOKING CLUB would like to thank everyone at Samoset for their generous donations for the troops in Iraq. We collected over 15 boxes of supplies. The boxes will be mailed to the Marines on Monday.

The 8th grade Football team had a "Dominating" performance yesterday against cross town rival Seneca. Kevin had 3 touchdowns and Shane had another TD Run. The offensive line was lead by Steve, Christian, Ryan, Mike and Steve. James had a key touchdown. A.J. had a touchdown saving pass knock down. Great job! Party after school today!
The 7th grade Football won their final game of the season against Seneca 31-6 yesterday. Jacob scored 2 touchdowns and Anthony had 2 touchdowns. Nick also scored a touchdown. Anthony and Matt led the team in tackles and Bryan and Anthony had an interception. The team finished the season 4-2.

Any 7th or 8th grader interested in Boys' Basketball or Girls' Volleyball must have a sports physical. The school doctor will be here November 7th to do sports physicals. If you have a sports physical, then you must hand in a green card to the nurse. Please see Mrs. Miller in the nurse's office for green cards, sports physical forms or any questions.

What a finish! The 8th grade Boys' Soccer Team ended their season with a hard fought, well deserved victory 3-1 over Seneca. This group was an absolute pleasure to coach and they represented Samoset as well as anyone could have. Coach "O" is very, very, proud.

The Samoset 8th grade Football team had another 5 quarter battle against Paca yesterday. Shane had a 60 yard touchdown run. Kevin had a 50 yard touch down pass to Antonio. Justin anchored the defensive line, and A.J. had several hard hitting tackles. The team has its final game of the season Thursday, 11/6 on the Varsity Field.
Congratulations to the Girls' 7th Grade Soccer Team on finishing their season with a 4-0 win over Selden. Blake and Melissa both played great offense, each having a goal and an assist. Sunja also played great offense, having an assist to Grace, who drove the ball from defense to the net to score. Offense was also played by Ashley and Andrea. Halfbacks, Cece and Melissa had a great game, as well as Kristen who had a goal. Great defense was played by Kathryn, Cassie, Katelyn, Sarah and Nicole. Excellent goalie skills shown by Shaheera, Uma, and Melissa. Great season girls!

This past weekend, the Sachem Marching Band became the 2008 State Champions of the NYS Field Band Conference Large School 3 division. In addition to finishing 1st at the Syracuse Carrier Dome, the band came in 1st place at every show of the entire season. Congratulations!!

The Boys' 7th Grade Soccer Team battled East Islip to a 1-1 tie on Friday. Andrew scored the only goal for Samoset on a free kick. Timmy played an outstanding defensive game and Brian made some wonderful saves in goal. Great job by everyone.

The 8th grade Football Team traveled to William Floyd M.S. for another tough 5 quarter contest. The offensive line surge was headed by Steve, Ryan, Steve, Rob, Patrick and Chris. Touchdowns were scored by Connor and Shane. Zach had on interception and a fumble recovery. The team hosts Paca on Tuesday.

GIRLS' FIELD HOCKEY defeated Accompsett by the score of 1-0. Scoring for Samoset was Maggie which was assisted by Kristen. Great defense was played by Betsy. Jen had one save in goal. Great job by all. Our next game will be on Thursday against Selden.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 7th Grade Girls' Soccer Team on their 2-1 victory over Sagamore. Melissa played great defense and offense with two assists. Goals were scored by Blake and Sarah. Excellent defense was played by Nicole, Kathryn, Katelyn, and Cassie. Casey and Nicole showed great goalie skills. Excellent job by all! Way to go girls!

This past weekend in Mineola, The Sachem Marching Band came in 1st place for the 6th time in a row, and once again was one of the highest scoring bands representing Long Island. This coming Saturday the band will travel to Syracuse to compete in the State Wide Championship show at the Carrier Dome.

The Samoset Football 7th Grade Team had a big win 39-12 over Dawnwood. Defense was led by Matt who led the team in tackles. Steven, Jacob and Matt all scored touch downs. Anthony also had two extra points. Practice has been cancelled today.

Things looked bleak for the 8th grade Samoset Boys' Soccer Team yesterday. Down 3-0 against Dawnwood, the boys staged a comeback Samoset should be proud of. Andrew came off the bench and single-handedly created the scoring chances that got us the tie.

THE GIRLS SCOUTS ARE COLLECTING USED SNEAKERS for their silver award project. Please bring in any outgrown or worn out sneakers and place them in the box outside the cafeteria. The sneakers will be used to make tracks, basketball and tennis courts. (NO SPIKES, CLEATS OR METAL GROMMETS)
THE SAMOSET PTSA will hold the first meeting of the year on Tuesday, 10/14 in the library. The meeting will begin at 7:00pm with a special Math Presentation by the Samoset Math Department. You are sure to learn many tips so that you can help your student be successful in math.

Permission slips will be distributed Friday, and tickets will go on sale Tuesday during Homeroom. Tickets are $7.00 each and include your admission plus 1 free soda and popcorn. Additional snacks and photos can be purchased at the dance.

Congratulations to the seventh grade Girls' Soccer Team on their 7-1 win over Selden. Blake scored five goals against Selden, with assists from Melissa, Sunja, CeCe and Nicole. Ashley and Melissa had goals as well. Great defense was played by Nicole, Grace, Kathryn, Melissa, Sarah and Cassie. Good job Nicole and Shaheera in goal. Great job girls!!!!
