Principal’s Message

September 2009

Dear Sagamore Community,

Welcome back! Typically, the summer slips past all too quickly, but the good news is it means our students resume learning and sharing good times with each other while our teachers gear up to do what they love and do best; helping your children achieve their potential.

Last year was very special for many reasons. As a district and as a school, respectively, we turned a corner. Our ELA and Math results, for example, were exceptional and ranked our district and school among the top performing districts on Long Island. Additionally, our Science Regents scores were also exceptional in that all students passed with an overwhelming majority of students reaching mastery score levels. This was also in accordance with our successes in clubs, on the stage in the performing arts, and the athletic fields which does so much to round out our students’ experience. Sachem kids can!

Excellent results bring heightened expectations and it’s those high expectations we will communicate daily and help our students strive to achieve. Success is no accident- it comes from teachers, parents, and students working together to create an environment where learning is fun, safe, and expected. Further, everyone at Sagamore works tirelessly to make all students feel they belong and are a part of something special. Together, let’s make the 2009-10 school year something truly special in everyway; let’s get started!!

Sincerely,

Steve Siciliano
