About the Course

This program is designed to train students in the basic elements of communication, design techniques, and advertising. Communication Design covers the principles and elements of design, color theory and the use of tools and equipment, as well as comprehensive instruction in Photoshop, Illustrator, INDesign, imovie, Final Cut Pro, Flash, and Dreamweaver.

Students will prepare advanced work in layout, typography, digital photography, illustration, graphic design, computer graphics, desktop publishing, video and web design. Examples of culminating activities are: package design, magazine layout and logo designs and complete advertising campaigns. Students also enter nationwide and local area contests. Emphasis will be placed on the development of a professional portfolio suitable for entry level positions in the advertising/computer graphic design industry or for admission to an undergraduate college degree program.
