Friday, September 23/B Day

Just a friendly reminder...NO HATS, NO EARBUDS, NO CELLPHONES in the hallways. Students need a pass at all times when in the hallways.

Dan Ferencsik is a former Sachem North student who graduated this past June. Dan was born with spinal muscular atrophy and he is wheelchair-bound. He recently began his college education at Farmingdale State College, traveling in his wheelchair-accessible van. On Sunday m orning, a drunk driver crashed into Dan's van causing it to go up in flames. Dan is now forced to take a county van, resulting in a 1-3 hour trip compared to the normal 1/2 hour. We are asking Sachem North students to come together in support of Dan and donate pocket change to help him and his family. We know any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Donations will be collected in your English class.

Your senior year is the most special year spent in high school and should be celebrated as much as possible, together with all of your friends. On Friday, September 30th, before the crack of dawn, roll out of bed, keep your PJs on, bring a blanket and your appetite, and let's watch the sunrise from the turf field. After breakfast, you will head into the school and keep your PJs on for Senior Pajama Day! All who attend will be entered into a special raffle!

Attention all Business and Marketing Honor Society members: Our first meeting will be next Tuesday, September 27th, during 9th period in B220. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Business Honor Society, you must attend this meeting. Anyone who cannot attend must see Mrs. Pepe in B206.

B&M Honor Society is once again sponsoring the Box Tops for Education contest, w hich will begin October 1st. The three homerooms with the most Box Tops will win a bagel breakfast. Box Top bags will be in the area of the sign-in desk. Remember, each year our coupons go to Special Education PTA! Start looking for the coupons and SAVE. Will Mrs. Methven win for the 3rd year in a row???

Attention all Envirothon members: The next Envirothon meeting is Monday, September 26, during 9th period in E116. See Ms. Marlowe with questions.

There will be a FIRST Robotics Team meeting for new members on Tuesday, September 27 in Room D123, from 5:30 to 7:30. Our mission is to inspire students to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills that inspire innovation, self-confidence, communication and leadership. If you are looking to enter the field of Engineering, then Robotics is the place for you!

Attention all students! The next STEM meeting will take place next Thursday, September 29th during 9th period in Room E208. All students who are interested in STEM should attend. If you are unable to come to this meeting, please see Mrs. LoCascio. Thank you!

The next Interact Club meeting will be Tuesday, September 27.

Attention all students who signed up for Barcoding Long Island. There is a mandatory meeting Friday, September 23rd, 9th period in Room E116. If you plan to participate in Barcoding Long Island, you MUST attend. See Ms. Marlowe with any questions.

The Sunken Meadow field trip is rescheduled to Friday due to thunderstorms. See Ms. Marlowe with questions.

Attention all current Science Honor Society Members: There will be an important meeting on Wednesday, September 28 during 9th period in Room E203. Please see Mrs. McMahon if you cannot make the meeting.

On Sunday, September 25th, Student Leadership and Peer Education classes will be holding a car wash at Applebee's in Bohemia from 8-1. All of the money raised will be put towards the Sachem North Food Drive which helps give families in our neighborhood a meal for the holiday. Come stop by and get your car washed or feel free to come and help out for a great cause. We are always welcoming new volunteers. Please spread the word to your friends, family, and neighborhood.

Do you like learning more about your classmates and teachers? Do you enjoy Instagram? Then please give HumansOFSNHA a follow and start learning more about the people inside these walls. The Peer Education and Student Leadership classes have the Instagram page up and running with over 200 posts so far. Give us a follow, throw us a like, but more importantly, learn about others before judging them. We all have a story to tell, one student at a time. If you'd like to be featured on the page, please stop into Room D217 throughout the day and be photo ready! We all matter -- let's treat each other with kindness and respect!

If you like video games, join the Sachem North Gamers Club. Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 22 during 9th period in the Little Theatre. Come meet your officers and plan for this year. Any questions, see Ms. Dansky in Room B105.

Sachem Fridays are back! Every Friday, we invite the entire faculty, all students and staff to wear ANY Sachem apparel you own. Let's collectively show our Sachem pride each week! If you don't have anything that says Sachem, wear black/gold or ask throughout the bulding where you can get some gear (Student Government, Senior Class, Varsity Coaches, SCTA Reps, etc.) Plenty of groups have apparel laying around for sale!

Open School Night will be held on Thursday, October 6th. Details to follow!

The PTA will be selling pizza Thursday directly after school. We will be located outside of the Cafeteria and the Gym. Each slice costs $2. Come and stop by and get something to eat before your practice or club meeting!

Do you wish you could get involved but don't exactly know where you fit in? Do you wish there was more Sachem pride? Do you hate going home and having nothing to do? Do you like to make loud noises like Brick Tamlan? Well, the Student Government is starting its own ARROWS NATION who meet up after school and cheer on Sachem North sports teams at their home games! Rumors have it there may be a MOES run in between 8th period and the time the games start! Any student wishing to be a part of this newly formed "bleacher cheerers" come bring your energy to Room D217 to be placed in a groupME phone chain led by Student Leadership Senior Kate Hall. We welcome all students and all grades who just want to show their Sachem pride! If you like eating at MOES and making noise, THIS is the group for you to join! Join the ARROWS NATION and let's start cheering and meeting new people today!

SACHEM GOES HOLLYWOOD!!! Homecoming is coming!!! The Homecoming Dance will be taking place on Thursday, October 13th. Tickets are now on sale in the new Student Government Office starting MONDAY. Tickets are $20. Start getting those Homecoming Proosals going and be sure to tag us on Twitter @SNStudentGov A committee of Student Leadership students will be randomly selecting the best and most creative Homecoming proposals to receive free Sachem gear and two free Homecoming tickets!! Sachem Pride is back! Go Arrows!

Any student interested in playing basketball after school must have an ID card to get into the gym. Sneakers must be worn at all times, and only students who intend to play will be permitted to stay. Any questions, please see Mrs. Gibbons in the Auditorium.

Do you have a Nintendo DS and games you are no longer using? In honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Peer Education and Student Leadership classes are collecting your old Nintendo DS's to be donated to the Stony Brook Pediatric Cancer Center. There are countless children who are receiving treatment that could greatl ybenefit from this donation during a very hard time. Please bring any Nintendo DS's or other gaming systems that you are no longer using to Room D217.
