Text Box: The cello acts like a tenor voice.
In a chorus, the cello plays notes that cover the whole range of men and women’s voices, and its’ sound is rich and
variable.
Text Box: The viola is the big brother/sister to the violin. Its voice is deeper and lower, because the body of the viola is larger than the violin’s. Rather like the second violins, the violist provide rhythm and harmonic support and acts as a kind of glue that holds the highest and lowest sounds together. The more mellow sound of the viola tends to attract quieter personalities, but like most big brothers and sisters, they assume superiority.
Text Box: The double bass is taller than most of its’ players, and has the lowest and deepest sound of all the strings. The basses act as the foundation of the Orchestra’s sound. They usually emphasize the strong beats of the bar, and play the defining notes of the chord. They are like a foundation to a house. The sound is strong and can be felt through the floor.

In order to be successful in the Orchestra, every student must practice every day for at least 20 minutes. How do you get better at swimming? Math, reading or writing ?

Practice!

Practice promotes success, Success  promotes a feeling of accomplishment and self esteem. That is the goal.

drummerviolinText Box: The violins are the largest section in the Orchestra.
They are split into two groups - the firsts and the seconds. The first usually plays the melodic lines.
The seconds support the firsts by playing rhythms and counter melodies.
