Substance abuse prevention and intervention services are available at Sachem East.

Mrs. Barbara Melito, a licensed School Social Worker has joined our staff as the new Student Assistance Counselor. Mrs. Melito comes to us with a wealth of experience having worked at Family Service League/Family Recovery Center as an Intensive Case Manager specializing in drug and alcohol treatment for both adolescents and family.

Mrs. Melito is available to our students and their families Monday through Friday in our Guidance Office. Counseling services are offered for a variety of issues related to school functioning such as: substance abuse, intervention, prevention and referrals, attendance problems, anxiety disorders, stress occurring at home, or any other concern that may interfere with a student’s academic success. Counseling will focus on providing the insight and skills necessary for optimal functioning, as well as supporting academic success.
