They’re not done yet, and they’re certainly enjoying every second of this ride. The Sachem North boys volleyball team achieved its latest milestone, winning a Division I Long Island championship Saturday, Nov. 10 after defeating Nassau County’s Plainview-Old Bethpage, 25-17, 25-11, 25-22. This marks the program’s first Long Island title since 2015.

“I’m just really proud of our guys,” Sachem coach Matt Rivera said after the match. “It’s a great feeling every time we set out to do something, and we’re able to see our guys win their final game on Long Island. This group in particular worked so hard since the season started. Every day, just grinding it out. For them to achieve their goal of winning a Long Island championship, and the way they did, I’m just really happy for them.”

Sachem, now 18-0 on the season, turns its attention to the New York State tournament Saturday, Nov. 17 in Albany. Follow @SachemSchools via Twitter for updates from the state tournament.
