Sachem’s Marching Band placed second at the New York State championships on Sunday, October 29. The competition took place at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

The Flaming Arrows narrowly missed a first-place finish after scoring an 84.35, just behind Corning-Painted Post’s 84.70.

“The band performed a show that was solid both musically and visually,” said Robert Normandeau, Sachem Flaming Arrows Marching Band Director. “It was by far our best performance of the season. The staff could not be any prouder.”

They performed their show, “The Witching Hour,” which has been a staple during the 2017 season.

Rounding out the top finishers were Rome Free Academy (3rd, 83.85), Hilton (4th, 80.40), Greece (5th, 79.35), Auburn (6th, 73.35), and East Ramapo (7th, 70.90).

This was the final competition of the year for Sachem, though the band will be performing in the Ronkonkoma St. Patrick’s Day and Memorial Day parades.
