A recent project at Sachem High School East in Keith Connelly’s English as a new language technology class taught students about welding and offered a chance to hone their skills.

As part of the project, students utilized MIG welders to create metal artwork showcasing their name or initials. The students worked to heat and bend the metal into their desired letter shapes and then join them through the welding process. Additionally, students cleaned up their welds using grinders to achieve the perfect finish. For the final step in their project, students painted their creations.
