Sachem High School East junior Samantha Christian was recently named as one of 83 artists to showcase her artwork, “Overwhelmed,” at the Heckscher Museum of Art’s Long Island: Best Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum exhibition.

Each year, the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington hosts a juried high school art exhibition which serves as the culmination to a competition that involves high school art students analyzing works of art on display at the museum and choosing one to use as inspiration for their own creation.

In addition to Samantha’s outstanding accomplishment, she also received the Heckscher Achievement Award and the Huntington Fine Arts Honorable Mention. The exhibition will be open to the public from April 24 to May 23.
