Dear Sachem Families,

Earlier today, the Governor released a list of 107 school districts that allegedly had not submitted reopening plans for in-person instruction and the Sachem Central School District was mistakenly included in that document. Please be assured that our district’s reopening plan was in fact submitted to the New York State Department of Education by the July 31 deadline and a copy of that plan was subsequently posted to the district’s website, as required.

The error in including Sachem in the list released today appears to have been a miscommunication, as the Department of Health was not supplied with a copy of the district’s plan after it was submitted to the State Education Department. This error has been corrected and we have been assured that both the SED and DOH have received a copy of our plan.

Sincerely,

John O’Keefe,

Interim Superintendent of Schools
