The Administrative Team of the Sachem
Central School District is exceptional. There is pride and a clear
expectation of professionalism in how we look and what we do.
The focus of the team is to focus on Instructional Leadership rather than
managerial tasks. As you can imagine, however, this large district
does present comprehensive and complex managerial challenges at times.
We encourage teachers to become interested in
administration and work closely with several of the local colleges and
universities to support our administrative candidates through the complex
process. All administrative internship experiences are authentic and
genuine; it is our hope to provide these realistic experiences to show our
candidates the day to day challenges of administration; ultimately it is our
goal to inspire them to take this "next step."
New Administrators are provided with mentoring and
professional development through Administrative Collegial Circles.
These realistic forums help all administrators maintain balance in our
lives, help us with professional growth and keep the focus on improving
instruction for students.
All administrators participate in district-wide
Instructional Leadership Team meetings which focus on Board goals as well as
district, building, and departmental strategic plans. Our
administrators have participated in professional development opportunities
offered through Harvard, Cornell, Lehigh, and the University of Kansas (to
name a few). Professional development is strongly encouraged.
