Mission Statement 2006:
Philosophy :
The primary function of the Legislative Committee, which is composed of community members, Sachem staff, students, Board and Legislative members, will seek to enhance funding to the district by lobbying Local, State and Federal entities.
We will be due diligent in the review of proposed new legislation as well as monitor existing legislation, to determine its impact on our school district.
We will seek to mitigate unfunded mandates, improve communications and promulgate influential status with our legislators.
We will emphasize and make known, the school districts needs, to our elected officials.
We will inform and make recommendations to the Sachem Board Of Education accordingly.
Role: Advisory
The Board will consider all recommendation’s set forth by the Committee, however, final action and responsibility shall remain solely with the Board.
