Mission

AWARE’s mission is to forge a collaborative alliance of school personnel, treatment providers, and legislative and community leaders to facilitate access to detoxification and related treatment programs for opiate abuse and dependence in adolescents and their families. The task force is committed to ensuring that all young men and women who are faced with addiction issues are provided with the treatment needed to pursue a healthy lifestyle through the creation of medically managed adolescent detoxification units, responsive insurance coverage, expanded supportive resources and fostering the ability of parents to mandate treatment. AWARE shall strive to bring increased knowledge to the issues confronting parents, students, schools and communities while compiling appropriate resources for the education, prevention and treatment of drug addiction in adolescents.
