This summer, the Sachem Central School District Administration Office received some new artwork thanks to third grade students at Waverly Avenue Elementary School.

As part of a lesson in Susan Kinsey’s art class focused on weaving, last year’s third grade students across the building learned about the history of weaving, how it was used throughout Native American culture and the extensive process of making cloth material.

For their project, students created circle weavings using cardboard and yarn to create individual circles that were then combined to create one large, vivid display of color.
