During a recent assembly program at Samoset Middle School, eighth-grade students heard from Paul Failla, a retired Suffolk County police officer of 27 years, and a professional actor, writer, producer and author who spoke to students about the importance of values and leadership.
Failla covered several topics such as diversity, respect, modeling after positive role models, making good choices, health and wellness and how to be a responsible digital citizen. Using these topics, Failla engaged students in interactive conversations on issues critical to their development. Through these inspiring conversations, students were empowered to create a school climate of civility, respect and acceptance.
“There is nothing in your life that you cannot attain,” Failla told students. “When you put your heart into something, your soul will light the path.”
